Our history

CHAD - Community Health and Development was created on 10th January, 2009 by a Columban's Sister and a team of 7 local youth.

As a nurse, sister Susana began health care activities in 2004. She mostly worked in the remote area in Kachin State. She discovered a very difficult situation for remote communities concerning Health Care Access. Supported by the St.Columban's Missionary Sisters and the Myitkyina diocese, she created CHAD in 2009.

The purpose was to reach out the people in the far away, mountainous and jungle areas to provide health education, health care and medical attention, children's education and community development programs.

Since 2009, CHAD organization has been fighting for making the Kachin communities meet their basic needs. We want them to become vibrant and self-sufficient in their way of life.
